Moongdal Pancake

Moong dal or Green gram is one of the common source protein , as well as a rich source of dietary fiber and other nutrients. A 1-cup serving of cooked moong dal has 147 calories per serving. With only 0.77 grams of total fat, moong dal beans are a good source of low-fat protein, with a little more than 14 grams per serving. In addition to protein it is high in dietary fibre as well. Moong dal pancake is a healthy and quick recipe for breakfast /snack. I personally sometime make this pancake during lunch as well in place of chapatis.

  • Salt to taste

  • Red chilli powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Oil to shallow fry(optional I cook it without oil)

  • Green chutney 3/4 cup

  • Skimmed milk cottage cheese (paneer) 3/4 cup

  • Lemon juice(As per taste)

*You can adjust the ingredients as per your taste

Method

1.Soak moong dal overnight. Drain and grind with ginger, garlic, onion, green chillies ,coriander ,parsley and salt to a smooth batter. You can add few drops of lemon as per taste as well.

2.Add red chilli power and mix well. Heat a tawa/flat pan(I prefer non stick) and grease it. Greasing is optional as I prepare it without greasing and it comes out perfect.

3.Spread a ladle full of batter to a thin disc. Drizzle a little oil (optional)and cook on medium heat till the underside is done. It will easily flip if the side is cooked.

4.Carefully flip over, and cook the other side.

5. Serve pancake with indian green chutney . Garnish with paneer or cheese as desired & Serve hot.
