Green Poha



Poha is commonly eaten breakfast in northern part of India. Its quick and easy to make plus it is healthy too. This green poha recipe was suggested to me by mom and I loved it . Its spicy, tasty and different version of old poha recipe.

Ingredients (Serving 2-3)

  • 1.5 cups poha

  • 1 small to medium onion, finely chopped

  • 2 small green chili, finely chopped

  • 1 sprig curry leaves/kadi patta, about 7 to 8 curry leaves

  • 1 tsp mustard seeds/rai

  • 1.5 to 2 tbsp peas

  • 1/4 tsp sugar

  • 1 cup chopped coriander/cilantro leaves

  • 2 Cloves of garlic

  • a few pieces of lemon or 1 tsp lemon juice or as required

  • 2 to 2.5 tbsp oil

  • salt as required

Method:

  • Keep the poha in the strainer and rinse it in running water, make sure that you do not rinse it too much or else it breaks and gets mushy. If the poha does not become soft, sprinkle few drops of water on the poha in the strainer. Sprinkle little sugar & keep aside

  • Heat up a pan & add oil.

  • Once oil becomes hot add mustard seeds and curry leaves

  • Meanwhile in a grinder add chili,garlic, cilantro and water to form a paste.

  • when the mustard seeds starts crackling, add chopped onions and let them become translucent.

  • Add peas and salt . Cook it for a minute.

  • Now add the chili-cilantro paste in the pan, cook for 15 seconds.

  • Add the poha into the pan and let it cook for 5 minutes.

  • Add Bhujia sev and its ready to serve.
